Roberta Duchak is an award-winning Broadway music director, vocal coach, and performer, working with singers and actors in New York, Chicago and virtually around the world. Known for her expertise in Broadway vocal technique, musical theater audition preparation, and vocal health for professional performers, Roberta has spent more than three decades helping artists develop powerful, sustainable voices for the stage, screen, and recording studio.
Roberta currently serves as the North American Music Supervisor for the hit Broadway musical SIX. Her recent work also includes vocal coaching on Broadway productions of The Notebook and Hell’s Kitchen and The Wiz, further solidifying her reputation as one of the industry's most trusted vocal technicians for contemporary musical theater.
Throughout her career, Roberta has developed a deep understanding of the vocal demands of Broadway, national tours, and professional performing careers. She specializes in helping singers build technique that supports long performance runs while maintaining vocal health and flexibility across musical styles. Her work combines classical vocal training, contemporary commercial music styles, and practical audition strategies used in the Broadway industry today.
Roberta has coached a wide range of performers, from emerging artists to established professionals. She is widely recognized for coaching Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman for their roles in the film adaptation of Les Misérables, and her students regularly appear on Broadway, National Tours, television and film, and major music platforms including The Voice and American Idol.
A highly sought-after private vocal coach and audition specialist, Roberta works with singers preparing for Broadway and musical theater auditions, professional performing careers, recording projects, and major competitions. She offers private vocal coaching in Chicago and New York City, as well as virtual voice lessons for singers nationwide and internationally.
In addition to her private studio, Roberta frequently leads master classes, workshops, and university residencies across the country. Her sessions focus on musical theater audition technique, vocal performance, pop and contemporary styles, and building a sustainable professional voice.
As a performer, Roberta brings the perspective of someone who has lived the life she now prepares her students for. She appeared on Broadway and National Tours in iconic roles including Mother in Ragtime, Magnolia and Ellie in Hal Prince’s Show Boat, Rona Lisa Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Ghost of Christmas Past in Scrooge opposite Richard Chamberlain. She has also performed as a soloist at the Ravinia Festival and released her solo recording album: Intersections.
Roberta has also served as music director for major regional theaters, including Chicago Shakespeare Theater, The Goodman Theatre, and Drury Lane Theatre, earning two Jeff Awards and five nominations for her work.
She is the founder of Vocal Boot Camp America, an intensive training program designed to help singers strengthen their vocal technique, expand their stylistic versatility, and prepare for the real demands of the professional performing industry.
