MT College Auditions

Millikin University Musical Theatre majors

College Audition Preparation
The audition process for top Musical Theatre programs has become extremely competitive.  I will help you navigate through this process into very manageable pieces.  I’m both a voice teacher and a vocal coach.  Vocal technique is imperative, but we must also act the song.

I will also make your musical cuts.  Each school has different requirements.  Some expect 16 bars exactly, not a measure more (U of M).  Others want 32 bars or a 1 minute selection.  As a pianist and arranger, I will be able to make sure your music is clearly marked, in the proper key for you,  and ready to be played by any accompanist! We will build your “book” together and fill it with songs that will showcase your ability.

I will teach you how to communicate with your accompanist and how to take control of your audition and feel confident!

As a professional musical director and adjunct faculty member at Columbia College, I am very aware of the current trends in musical theatre. I can help you choose appropriate repertoire for your audition (at any college or university). I’ll help you showcase your individual strengths and unique qualities through your audition materials and performance.

Musical Theatre Prescreen Audition
The most competitive performing arts college programs now require a prescreen audition to determine if you are granted an in-person audition. I will help you make the videos that will get you noticed and through to the next round.

As a professional coach and musical director, I have heard hundreds of songs performed sometimes in a single day of auditioning professionals. I will help you achieve a simple and personal performance for the camera. We will work together to find an honest performance that shows off who you are as an artist.

My husband, Brett Beiner from Brett Beiner Photography will record your video audition with professional lighting and audio. He will ensure that you look as good as you sound!
